In summer 2004 and 2005 Professor
Kelly and students from his Intertidal
Ecology class at O.C.C. journeyed to
Rabbit Island to conduct research and
  compare and contrast the Intertidal
  Ecology of southern California to
  that around Rabbit Island, British
  Columbia, Canada.  During these trips
Kelly and his students carried out
   many scientific studies of the
   interidal marine life around the
edges of the island and on a near-
by island.  Kelly is working on a
   power point presentation that will
be attached to the website here and
will allow you to see the intertidal
marine life on Rabbit Island as well!
Rabbit Island is located 10
nautical miles from Schooner
Cove (see photo at left) at the  Fairwinds Resort and is at the  south end of the North Gulf
Islands in the Straits of
Georgia (see map above) in
British Columbia, Canada.
  The island is over 38
acres in size and now has
accomodations for 20 people
per group (including a cook
and the island caretaker)
for one week trips..
